Tumor Boi Summer (and Fall and Winter and Spring and Summer again)

I received Opdualag infusion number 2 on my 47th birthday this week. Bristol-Myers Squibb approved my application for free infusions for a year. Which is good, because this is an off label use not covered by insurance and each infusion is $25,000, give or take.

I’m starting to settle into life with Optune attached to my head 24/7. The first few nights’ sleep it was pretty terrible, and it’s very weird to essentially have a tube sticking out of the top of my head. There are times when this simply does not feel like real life, like at some point last August, I shifted into the wrong timeline. But barring a metaphysical SpaceTime miracle, it is indeed real life and it does go on.

It’s very frustrating that all the cliches are already taken. They’re all true. Savor every moment, seize the day. I’d love to have deep new insights, I’d love to have a never-ending drive to squeeze the marrow out of every day, but notwithstanding a lack of energy to do marathon days, just sitting around and being with my family often feels like the best possible use of my time.
