I’ve been radio silent for a while. My last MRI was September 18th, and did not have the results that we were hoping for. We were looking for no new enhancement, basically just stability and possible pseudo progression at the LITT site. What we saw was more progression and some possible recurrence at the original resection site in the left temporal lobe.
This means it’s a darn good thing I have CEGAT working on those custom vaccines for me. To help bridge the gap, I’ve started getting infusions of Avastin (bevacizumab), which will continue every 3 weeks or so for the foreseeable future. Avastin plus Optune have bought a lot of people a lot of extra time, so this is one case where I’m hoping I completely go with the crowd.
Has anyone ever tried reiki? I didn’t really know anything about it but there was a practitioner doing sessions when I got my first Avastin infusion and I said why not, let’s give it a shot! And then I apologized for rhyming, though my brain wanted to trot a lot to the plot that time forgot…
And wouldn’t you know, the reiki was pretty amazing. My shoulders released tension that I think has been there since about 1993. They tell me there’s scientific evidence proving its effectiveness, which makes me feel better about it, but even sans such evidence, I’d be going back for more.
So here we are in a holding pattern. Visualizing my immune system releasing natural killer cells directly at my brain (of course they’re wearing old school strongman swimsuity-type outfits with headbands and marching in lockstep). Doing my best to maintain the gains we’ve attained (I’m doing it again) at day rehab, get some work done while I can, sell the clutter I’ve been meaning to purge for years (anyone want a really nice but extremely overpowered pressure washer with a Honda engine? Make an offer!), and enjoy this incredible fall weather that’s settled in this week. Hard to beat Chicago in the fall.
